As the end of the year approaches I feel it’s time to reflect upon the things I’ve set out for my blog this year. I’ve vowed to support more indie lingerie designers, and transition from taking my photos on my phone to my camera. Though I have done both of these which makes me very proud of myself, I have hardly posted enough and given my blog the time it deserves and for those of you reading thank you! I not only do this for my own personal growth and creativity but also to connect with those of you who share my passion/addiction.
I’m in the process of growing my sleep and lounge wear collection, it’s the one part of my wardrobe that has been neglected. Don’t get me wrong I wear my flannelette Care Bear pants and my Iron Maiden t-shirt religiously but that’s the lazy me, the “real” me loves to feel and look like a princess while I slumber. This is to make up for my Princess Fiona face while sleeping. LOL!
So here we are towards the end of the year and I think it’s natural for my last blog post of 2018 to be a christmassy one. A few weeks ago I posted a little Christmas edit and there was one item on that list that I just had to have for myself. I’ve pictured myself sleeping in this, lounging in this and opening presents in this (if any), so here it is the Daniella high leg silk teddy by Ayten Gasson.
The Brand
I fell in love with all the silk Ayten Gasson uses in her designs and I really admire that she produces them locally. All items are created in their Brighton boutique using traditional sewing methods from start to finish. Being able to shop luxury knowing that it is both ethically and sustainably made makes it that extra special.
The Details
The teddy is made from luxurious silk with cream and white vintage french lace trimming which ties the whole look together. Though they do offer a bespoke service and are able to customise all pieces I thought all the little details were simple yet elegant which was perfect.
There are three red bows with the center one being adjustable for comfort, I can totally see myself incorporating this piece into my wardrobe as well as home. The bust has a few tiny pleats for added support and the silk is cut on the bias to ensure flow and that the piece skims the body nicely.
I’m always keen on anything that makes my legs look longer cause I’m only 5’3 so I need this high cut leg. Also this is a vintage inspired and limited edition item so adding this to my collection was a must.
Daniella High Leg Silk Teddy £107
I did however have a little difficulty choosing my size during checkout as my measurements didn’t really match with either a size small or medium according to their sizing cart.
When having sizing issues I always contact customer service instead of risking it and taking a chance just to be sure. Ayten responded very promptly, she was lovely and made my first experience very personable which will make me happy to come back for more goodies. She suggested a size small which I purchased. Unfortunately the teddy though does fit is a little too short in the body for me which is a shame. I could however lower the straps but then they’d end up slipping off my shoulders and the top of the teddy wouldn’t sit nicely, so I think i’ll just stick to slips from now on.
Adjustable straps, gold sliders, three pretty red bows and snap fasteners at the gusset.
Available in sizes small, medium and large. All full priced items come gift wrapped in a matte black box with signature ribbon.
The Quality
This is by far the most luxurious silk item I own. The silk is so beautiful and compared to my other silk items it is of a much higher quality. The stitching on the teddy is very neat and you can tell it has been crafted with care.
Delivery
The item arrived very quickly via Royal Mail, it took 10 days from order to door and cost £9.95. Ayten was also really helpful in providing me delivery times and kept me updated as I needed the item before I moved again.
I cannot wait to get another piece. Have you tried any of Ayten Gasson designs?
I hope y’all have a Merry Christmas and end the year wearing something that makes you feel beautiful. Here’s to 2019, I’m excited!
