For a long time I’ve lusted for some of Dora Larsen’s designs, the brand is know for their fun and flirty colours though the brightness has always been a little much for me to wear. Don’t get me wrong, I love colour but I’ve always steered towards soft pastel hues which are more my style.
Despite the fact that brights weren’t really my bag, I got the chance to see all the colours from the SS18 collection at a pop up in Tokyo. My eyes went from Jane to Rosalind to Esteé which in the end came home with me. I opted for the padded triangle bra because as much as I loved the underwire bra I have so many and trying a new brand means I should also try something I didn’t already have.
The colour combo, an unusual one for me because I wasn’t really diggin’ the colours on display and I don’t own anything in olive or wear any sort of green but I loved the wine and the soft pink. I decided to give it a go, I tried it on and instantly fell in love. It complimented my skin tone so well!
My favourite feature of the bra is the thick bra band and front closure which give that extra lift, and provides just enough support for me to wear the bra all day and feel really comfortable. The straps are thin but quite soft so they don’t cut into my shoulders at all which is great, seeing as I was originally tossing up between this style or the balconette because of its thicker straps. I grabbed the bra in a size medium (available in size XS-L) which I think fits pretty well referring to the size recommendation on their website. The padding is also removable which is a bonus, I like having the option to wear a soft cup during cooler weather without having my nipples on show so I’ve been wearing this one quite a bit. I do wish the eyelash lace sat a little flatter on my lady lumps though.
Bra strap details, simple gold sliders are a win for me. I always prefer gold over silver.
The bra is made from a beautiful soft pink eyelash lace and olive mesh which is super soft. Though I wasn’t too impressed by the amount of loose threads I noticed as I washed the bra prior to wearing. This was a huge negative for me (I had already trimmed most prior to taking photos), having to trim the excess myself made the item feel a little less special and unfinished especially in the luxury market.
The inside of the bra should be equally as neat as the outside, this was pretty disappointing from a visual perspective. The seams are not completely up to my standards.
The knickers, I’ll usually choose high waisted knickers over any other style just because I feel comfortable and no muffin top! Also because most of my clothes are high waisted too. These however I feel are a bit long for my body, as they do not sit well in my bikini line and the waist band comes up a little too high which results in the elastic folding over during the day. The back is simple with a V shaped cut out and swan hook closure, though I haven’t had these pop open like I’ve had on other knickers which is a good thing. Also any knickers that are VPL free also win extra brownie points with me. I’m wearing these in a size small (available in size XS-L), the sewing on these are much nicer than the bra.
What I do love most is the cheeky cut, the back of these knickers are what sold me and I think they are really cute, the lace sits at just the right spot and really accentuates any derrière.
All in all I’m glad I caved and tried this brand, Esteé is beautiful though next time I may opt for a different style bra and a brazilian.
Summer is coming up which colour way will you be wearing?
Till the next set,
