Lingerie shopping is a funny thing, and in a metropolis like New York City, I thought you could use some help sifting through. You’ll either come across some sad spaces or places that only want to make time for you if they think you can afford all the pretty things.
My first lingerie experience in NYC was a huge mistake and I don’t know why I did it. It was like, you know when you watch a horror movie and you know you won’t be able to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night but you do it anyway? That was my first experience here. I was in the beauty department of a department store and thought I’d go check out the lingerie department. It was so sad, I was saddened that these were the only options available in such a large department store. So yeah, don’t make the mistake I did.
I’ve gone through it for you, scoured the city and listed my fav spots for lingerie in NYC.
Uye Surana

What I love about travelling is being able to visit small design studios and getting to try on and feel the fabric of pieces I’ll only ever be able to order online. As well as meeting the people behind the labels.
If you’re looking for a souvenir from New York then try this local designer. Their pieces are fun, feminine, handmade in small batches and are often limited edition, so you’ll be sure to take home something special. Visiting their studio is by appointment only.

Maison Close

I’ve seen a lot of Maison Close pieces being carried in other boutiques but there is nothing like visiting their flagship store. It’s definitely a lovely experience. A beautiful boutique draped in rich opulent purple velvet. Definitely not to be missed so drop by for something sexy! If you meet Samantha she’ll take great care of you.

Azaleas

I visited their West Village boutique during an event with Marika Vera and it was so much fun. They stock a great range of fun colours with an array of lingerie and swimwear brands such as Studio Pia, Marika Vera & Bordelle. I also love how everything is colour coded! Definitely put them on your go-to list.

Journelle

No trip to NYC is complete without visiting Journelle! I was in heaven, so many pretty things that I would never be able to see in person back home, so I definitely played dress-ups. There are three boutiques and I was lucky enough to visit two, 3rd Ave (which was my local) and Mercer St. They stock luxury brands such as Agent Provocateur, Studio Pia, Bordelle as well as Dita Von Teese and their own Journelle brand.

Agent Provocateur

I don’t wear much AP these days but their boutiques are still an experience for any lingerie loving gal so I couldn’t resist. Even if you’re just going for the decor, you know you want to. I visited both boutiques but Madison Ave was my fav. Two levels of goodness. Yes, please!
133 Mercer St, New York, NY 10012. Closest Subway – Prince St station (R, W) & 675 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10065. Closest subway – 5 Avenue station (N, R, W)
I hope you’ve enjoyed part one for lingerie shopping in New York. Keep your eyes peeled for part two.
Happy Shopping!
